Frequently asked questions

This course meets the 4-hour continuing education requirement TDLR sets for every electrician license that renews with CE: Master Electrician, Journeyman Electrician, Residential Wireman, Maintenance Electrician, Journeyman Lineman, Journeyman Industrial Electrician, Master Sign Electrician, Journeyman Sign Electrician, Apprentice Electrician and Apprentice Sign Electrician. If you hold more than one of these licenses, TDLR requires only four hours in total. Electrical Contractors and Residential Appliance Installers are not required by TDLR to complete continuing education.
Texas Electrician CE 4 HR is 4 CE hours (TDLR course number 33283). That is the full amount TDLR requires before each license renewal, and the course covers all four content areas TDLR requires: the National Electrical Code, the Texas Electrician Law (Occupations Code Chapter 1305), the TDLR Electrician Administrative Rules (16 TAC Chapter 73) and electrical safety under NFPA 70E. You do not need a second course. One CE hour equals 50 minutes of instruction, so the course is 200 minutes of timed lessons.
20 modules: Course Overview and Regulatory Framework; NEC Fundamentals and Purpose of the Code; Texas Electrician Law (Chapter 1305) – Purpose and Scope; TDLR Administrative Rules for Electricians; NFPA 70E Electrical Safety Fundamentals; NEC Article 110 and Safe Electrical Installations; Licensing, Qualifications, and Supervision under Chapter 1305; Continuing Education, Renewal, and TDLR Expectations; NEC Branch Circuits, Overcurrent Protection, and Safety; Grounding, Bonding, and Shock Protection; Permits, Inspections, and Local Authorities Having Jurisdiction; Advertising, Representations, and Use of License Number; NFPA 70E Risk Assessment and Personal Protective Equipment; Standards of Conduct, Ethics, and Professional Responsibility; Complaints, Investigations, and Disciplinary Actions; Case Study: Unpermitted Work and Safety Violations; Case Study: License Misuse and Misleading Advertising; Best Practices, Compliance Programs, and Risk Management; Integrated Review: NEC, Texas Law, TDLR Rules, and NFPA 70E; Final Thoughts and Actions. Each module ends with short knowledge-check questions.
Texas Electrician CE 4 HR is $18, one time. That price includes the timed lessons, the knowledge checks, your PDF certificate and our reporting of your completion to TDLR. There is no separate state reporting fee for this course. You pay by card at a secure checkout and the receipt is emailed to you.
CE hours are based on seat time: one CE hour equals 50 minutes of instruction, as required by TDLR, so the 4-hour course is 200 minutes (3 hours 20 minutes) of timed lessons. Most students finish in one sitting of about 3 hours 20 minutes, or spread it over a few days. The lessons are timed so your credit meets the standard, and you can stop and resume any time; your place is saved automatically.
Certificates are typically issued within 1 business day. If you need yours sooner, call our course administrator, Mike Brown, at 214-800-9958. It is emailed to you as a PDF and also appears under My Account on our website. We report your completion to TDLR as the provider. Keep your certificate for two years.
We report each completion to TDLR through the TDLR provider portal as the provider. Our provider number with TDLR is 2564. Reporting is the provider's responsibility, not yours, so there is nothing for you to send in; your certificate is emailed to you as a PDF at the same time. If your hours do not appear in TDLR's records, contact us first and we will check the filing.
#1 Training is a TDLR-registered continuing education provider, provider number 2564, and this course is TDLR course number 33283. Our Provider information page lists every approval we hold, and Search the TDLR license database lets you look up the provider number or the course number yourself. Only courses from a TDLR-registered provider count toward your renewal.
Buy a course, your next one is free. Every paid order earns a personal code for 100% off your next course or bundle. One free course or bundle per license number, good for one year after your paid order; any state reporting fee still applies. Leave a quick review of your course to unlock the code. See how it works. The code is personal to you: we email it after your paid order, and it is applied automatically at checkout when you log in and buy your next course or bundle. Because it is tied to your license number, it is issued once per license.
Completing your required CE is a step toward renewal, but it does not by itself renew your license. You still renew directly with TDLR. We make sure your completed hours are reported and documented.
Absolutely. The courses run in any modern browser on a phone, tablet, or computer. Your progress is saved to your account, so you can switch devices without losing your place.
Call 214-800-9958 (Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm CT) or email support@n1-training.com. Our course administrator, Mike Brown, answers questions about the course, your certificate and TDLR reporting. You can also use the help chat in the corner of any page or the contact form. Refunds, complaints and our other provider policies are on the Policies page.
